Overview
Disaster Blaster was a touchscreen arcade game for Indiana Farm Bureau Insurance: tornadoes, fires and other disasters threaten your home and car, and you blast them out of the sky with well-aimed shots and a little help from IFBI.
Brand New School had made IFBI's well-received animated spots, based on classic wooden toy automata, so the agency Young & Laramore asked us to extend the campaign into a mobile, interactive attraction. We took cues from early arcade games like Space Invaders and Missile Command, and from modern touchscreen mobile games.
The game was built into the side of a custom, brand-wrapped dune buggy that toured family events around Indiana. Players entered their initials on a leaderboard, and everyone was entered in a daily prize drawing.
I was lead developer, working with one other developer across development, game design and level design.
